The study focuses on the health assessment of 10 kV oil-paper insulated power transmission cable lines beyond their rated service life to assess the feasibility of their service life extension. The analysis examines various degradation factors, including thermal stresses from load and fault currents, as well as the impact of switching overvoltages and burn-down currents used for fault location. A health index calculation methodology is presented to evaluate the feasibility and potential duration of continued operation for cable lines.
